The project is currently proposed to lengthen the left turn lane from eastbound Route 2 to Milltown Road. Some widening, curb and drainage work, and minor reconfiguration of the intersection of Route 2 and Delaware Park Road will be needed for the lengthened left turn lane.
The Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) is holding a public workshop to obtain comments from the public and surrounding business owners about the proposed project along Kirkwood Highway (Route 2) from Wollaston Road to West Huntington Drive.
The workshop will be held on Monday, Dec. 9 from 4 to 7 p.m., at Kirkwood Highway Library, 6000 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington. The public is invited to stop in any time during those hours.
The project is currently proposed to lengthen the left turn lane from eastbound Route 2 to Milltown Road, according to a DelDOT press release. Some widening, curb and drainage work, and minor reconfiguration of the intersection of Route 2 and Delaware Park Road will be needed for the lengthened left turn lane. The road will be milled and overlaid within the project limits.
These modifications are proposed to address safety concerns along Route 2 as well as left turn capacity onto Milltown Road, according to DelDOT. Additionally, pedestrian improvements will be made along the section of roadway.
At the workshop, preliminary design plans on proposed improvements will be on display along with information about the project. Residents and business owners can give their comments to DelDOT representatives at the workshop, and can also express their views in writing, giving reasons for support of, or in opposition to, the proposed project. Comments will be received during the workshop or can be mailed to DelDOT Public Relations, P.O. Box 778, Dover, DE 19903, or emailed to email@example.com.
