Wilmington's Hot Breakfast!, the Homey Award-winning "dork-rock power duo" will debut its first video for its single "An Idiot for Christmas" on Sunday.

"An Idiot for Christmas," a humorous pop-rock song, was released in 2012, and is featured on the 93.7 WSTW compilation "Comfort, Joy, Love and Snow." The video will be available here.

"An Idiot for Christmas" was conceived and directed by Kevin Regan, who shot footage with the band between February and November of 2013 in many Delaware locations, including Wilmington, Christiana, and Rehoboth, with a few shots in Media and West Chester, Pa. Regan, who created the award-winning web comedy series "The League and The Clink" and the popular Funny or Die video "Christmas Boobs," pitched the idea to Matt Casarino (guitar/vocals) and Jill Knapp (percussion/vocals), of Hot Breakfast!, after hearing the song in December.

"Kevin was really enthusiastic about the song," said Casarino, of Wilmington. "He had all of his ideas worked out before he even talked to us. All we had to do was follow his lead."

Since the lyrics of the song spans three seasons, Regan and Hot Breakfast! set a filming schedule that ran from February to November.

"It was a challenge to try to keep some continuity to our appearances," said Knapp, of Wilmington. "We did our best, but honestly, it didn't really matter – as the seasons changed, it only made sense that we would change too."

The band ended up employing dozens of fans and friends to appear in the video, including musicians Joe Trainor, Kevin Niemi, Jeff Dement (all of The Joe Trainor Trio), Dave Brown (The Prisoners), and Randy America (Jake and the Stiffs), along with Delaware's social media guru and pot-stirrer, Ken Grant. Grant, along with several enthusiastic actors, traveled to Rehoboth Beach in August to appear in a dance sequence choreographed by Georgie Staley.

Regan also shot scenes for the video at Linvilla Orchards in Media, inside and outside his and the band's houses, in a shopping mall and all around the Rehoboth boardwalk.

"The multiple locations and seasonal changes give the video a unique look," said Regan, of Media. "Plus, they really compliment the song. We had a blast making the video."

"An Idiot for Christmas " is available for download at iTunes, Amazon.com, CDBaby, and other online music retailers.

Hot Breakfast! released its latest album, "39 Summers," in the spring. It was produced by Hot Breakfast! and award-winning producer Ritchie Rubini and recorded at Ray Gagliardino's Studio 825 and the band's own Knappshack Studios, both in Wilmington. Holly Quinn, of Delaware Arts Info, calls the album "clean, tight, and catchy... the dozen songs weave together flawlessly, with a balance of styles and sounds."

Upcoming Hot Breakfast! shows include: Melodies Cafe (Ardmore, Pa.) with Jewmongous on Dec. 21, The ArtsCenter at SteelStacks (Bethehem, Pa.) on Jan. 4, and World Café Live (Philadelphia) where the band will compete with 11 other monthly winners for the Best of Philly Rising on Jan. 22.
