  • The 5th annual Halloween in Hockessin event will feature three days of fun, Oct. 25-27, sponsored by the Hockessin Business Association.
    1. Jack O'Lantern Jamboree
    On Friday, Oct. 25, Gateway Garden Center, 7277 Lancaster Pike, Hockessin, kicks off the weekend with their Jack O' Lantern Jamboree from dusk to 8 p.m. Visitors are invited to take a spooky walk through haunted woods filled with lit pumpkins carved by staff, local artists, Hockessin businesses, and creative children. You can roast marshmallows over a bonfire and enjoy seasonal refreshments.
    If you'd like to show off your own pumpkin carving artistry, you can drop off your carved pumpkin at Gateway Garden Center on Thursday, Oct. 24 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., and your creation will be included in the Jack-O'-Lantern Jamboree.
    2. Candy Corn Trail trick-or-treating
    On Saturday, Oct. 26 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., children are invited to wear costumes and go trick-or-treating on the Candy Corn Trail at more than 30 local businesses. Adults can wear costumes, too!
    Participating businesses include American Dance Academy, At Home Designs, Back Burner To Go, Beauty Bar by Saiko, The Big Picture, Body Mind Spirit, Casual Marketplace, CCArts, Children First Pre-School, Corrective Chiropractic, Creations Fine America Craft, Drip Café, Doc's Meat Market, Essencia Salon & Day Spa, Everyday Artists Studio, Everything But The Kitchen Sink, Expressions Photography, Gateway Garden Center, The Gift Horse, Harvest Market, Hockessin Animal Hospital, Hockessin Athletic Club, Hockessin Book Shelf, Hockessin Day Spa, Hockessin United Methodist Church, Kids First Swim, Kumon of Hockessin, Maryland Saddlery, Perfect Cup Café, Quinn's Café, State Farm – Bill Burris, State Farm – Melissa Ludwig, US Male Modern Barber, Wild Birds Unlimited, Woodside Farm Creamery, and WSFS.
    3. Howling Hounds Pet Parade
    On Sunday, Oct. 27, the Howling Hounds Pet Parade will start at Wild Birds Unlimited, 7411 Lancaster Pike, with the parade lineup at 12:30 p.m. The parade will start at 1 p.m., and go to Hockessin Animal Hospital, 643 Yorklyn Road, Hockessin, where there will a pet costume contest with prizes. Refreshments will be served.
