  • New Castle County Detectives are currently investigating a possible child abduction that was reported in the community of Whispering Pines near Newark.
The New Castle County Police and surrounding jurisdictions have not received any reports of any missing children that would be consistent with this incident and are not ruling out the fact that a parent could have pulled the child into the vehicle.
On Tuesday at 6:30 p.m., county officers responded to the area of Albion Drive and Elliot Street in the community of Whispering Pines for a report of a possible child abduction. Police received information from a witness that a juvenile female was possibly abducted as she was seen walking in the aforementioned area.
It was reported to police that a white male approximately 30 years old, operating a white older SUV with rear tinted windows and a roof rack, was observed leaving the area with a child. There is no further physical or clothing description for the possible victim or the white male at this time, police said.
County officers and detectives canvassed the neighborhood and surrounding area, but were unsuccessful in their efforts in locating the aforementioned white male or any other evidence that would substantiate the alleged abduction.
The Delaware State Police provided aerial support in the area which was also unsuccessful.
As requested, an AMBER alert was launched by the Delaware State Police.
County detectives will continue to conduct interviews and ask that if anyone has any information relevant to this investigation, to please call the New Castle County Police Department at (302) 395-8110, or by providing information through the website at www.nccpd.com.
Citizens may also provide a text tip at: 847411 (TIP411) by beginning the message with NCCPD and then typing the message. Tipsters may also call Crime Stoppers at (800) TIP-3333.
