Ripken Baseball, the host organization of the 14th annual Cal Ripken World Series (CRWS), today announced the Piedmont Bulls 12s from Hockessin, Delaware will be representing the Middle Atlantic Region in the 2013 CRWS. For the 11th year, Ripken Baseball will host the Babe Ruth League's premier event, featuring elite 11 and 12-year-old youth baseball players from around the world, at The Ripken Experience complex in Aberdeen, Md.

Piedmont defeated Brooklyn, N.Y. 5-1 in the 12u Mid-Atlantic Region Babe Ruth Baseball Championship on Monday, July 29. The Bulls went undefeated in pool play, defeating all 4 of their opponents by 10 runs or more.
The CRWS is where the world comes to play, the Ripken Way, and is the culminating tournament of the Babe Ruth League's 12u Cal Ripken Division. The World Series unites the 10 best teams from across the United States, with six international teams from Australia, Canada, Dominican Republic, Japan, Mexico, and the Republic of Korea. Each team represents the winner of their respective regional tournaments, which all took place earlier this summer.
Opening ceremonies will begin on Friday, August 9 at 5:00 p.m., with a skills competition at 5:30 p.m. and the host team game at 8:00 p.m. Games will be played on the innovative fields at The Ripken Experience complex, including the one-of-a-kind Cal Sr.'s Yard, a two-thirds replica of Camden Yards. Pool play competition will take place from August 10 – 14 with up to seven games played each day starting at 10:00 a.m. On Friday, August 16 there will be four games of single elimination competition beginning at 12:30 p.m. to determine the participants for the International Championship Game and U.S. Championship Game.
On August 17 and 18, the International Championship, U.S. Championship and World Championship games for the 2013 tournament will be broadcast Live on CBS Sports Network and CBSSports.com. Additionally, all tournament games will air on internet radio station SFMsports.net and simulcast through Live web cameras via WatchMeSports.com for the third year in a row.

County Executive tips cap to Piedmont Baseball for World Series playoff berth New Castle County Executive Tom Gordon congratulated members of the Piedmont Baseball League 12-and-under team for advancing to the Cal Ripken World Series in Aberdeen, Md. during their Thursday evening practice on the grounds of Piedmont in Hockessin.
Page 2 of 2 - County Executive Gordon told the Piedmont ballplayers that he was proud of the way they had represented New Castle County, Delaware thus far, and he wished them luck in the Cal Ripken World Series, scheduled to begin Friday night.
Gordon, with his Phillies cap on, asked the players how they felt about winning the Middle Atlantic Regional Tournament, where Piedmont went a perfect 6-0.
"It felt great," first baseman Sean Regan said. "We knew it wasn't going to be easy, but we worked so hard. Now, we get to go to the Cal Ripken World Series, where they treat you like an MLB player."
"It's exciting to see something you've worked so hard for pay off," catcher Marshall Autry said.
"It was one of the biggest accomplishments in my life," pitcher/shortstop Brian Gilardi said.
Gordon asked who the Piedmont Bulls would play next. The ballplayers said they would play the Hickory Hornets at 8 p.m. Friday, under the lights.
"We're going to be cheering for you here in Delaware," Gordon said.
