The Delaware National Guard will team up with the Blood Bank of Delmarva to host a blood drive from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 3 at the Blood Bank of Delmarva, 100 Hygeia Drive, Newark.
This weekend is the unit training assembly, or "drill," for Delaware's hometown force, which means more than 1,000 Air Guardsmen will be on the base for the weekend.
While not open to the public, the blood drive organizers hope the number of uniformed personnel on base will make an impact in saving lives.
"The 166th Airlift Wing is full of bone fide heroes," says Senior Master Sgt. Robbin Moore, organizer of the blood drive. "Having a way for any of our members to do just a little bit more for their community is what we are all about."
