Serafin String Quartet has named Lisa Vaupel as its new permanent violinist.
Vaupel will join current members Kate Ransom, violin; Lawrence Stomberg, cello; Esme Allen-Creighton, viola. Vaupel, winner of the 2010 Delaware Symphony's Albert Beekhuis Award, serves as principal second violin of the Delaware Symphony Orchestra and associate concertmaster of Opera Delaware. She plays regularly with Opera Company of Philadelphia and the Pennsylvania Ballet Orchestra. Vaupel also serves as a teaching artist for the Philadelphia's Orchestra's School Partnership Program and is a faculty member at Goucher College.
The upcoming Serafin String Quartet performances include: 8 p.m. Sept. 7, University of Delaware Music Department Gala, Mitchell Hall at the University of Delaware, 210 S. College Ave., Newark; Noon, Sept. 21, College Concert: Musical Passport-Music of Many Lands, World Cafe Live at the Queen, 500 N. Market St., Wilmington.
