The New Castle County Chamber of Commerce has scheduled a grand opening ceremony with a ribbon cutting at reNu Chiropractic off the 900 block of South College Avenue in Newark next Friday, May 17.
reNu Chiropractic emphasizes the power of healthy healing to individuals with automobile, worker's compensation and sports injuries, said owner/Chief Operating Officer Doris Chan Leach, of Hockessin. The most advanced therapy technologies – including cold laser therapy, electrical stimulation, myofascial release and massage therapy – are combined with spinal manipulation to accelerate the healing process at reNu.
Q How long have you been in chiropractic?
A I have been in chiropractic service for 9 years. I was a managing partner in a chiropractic practice for nine years. I provided the vision, marketing and managed every part of the practice.
Q What made you decide to open up this business?
A I am a chemical engineer by training. I had worked in the medical and chemical industries, Becton, Dickinson & Co. and the DuPont Company, for over 15 years. I changed my career because my passion is to help people to heal naturally and obtain health and wellness through chiropractic care, good nutrition, exercise and balance in mental attitude. When I was pregnant with my second child, in my last trimester I injured my lower back. The emergency physician that treated me said that I could not take any pain medications so he ordered bed rest for three months. He did not suggest chiropractic care and I did not know that chiropractic is effective in treating low back problem naturally. After my pregnancy, my lower back problem did not go away. The doctor even suggested surgery. At that time, a friend suggested for me to see a chiropractor. My low back problem was healed through chiropractic treatments and Hydrotherapy. Through my personal experience, I totally believe that chiropractic is the best way to treat spinal problems naturally.
Q When the New Castle County Chamber of Commerce holds a grand opening, that is not always the actual opening. Is that the case here?
A Our office actually opened on Feb. 26, 2013. This is our grand opening and patient appreciation to renew and celebrate our new practice. Also, we will introduce our new chiropractor, Dr. Chris Cianci, certified chiropractic sports physician.
Q What will distinguish your practice from others in northern New Castle County?
A The positive and genuine attitudes of all our staff separate us from other practice. We provide a warm and welcoming environment so patients can heal naturally. We invite each patient to become a part of the reNu family. We offer a total care center where patients restore their body's natural balance with chiropractic care, rehabilitation, exercise, nutrition education, as well as advanced therapies including cold laser, electrical stimulation, myofascial release and massage. We emphasize the power of healthy healing to individuals with automobile, workman's, and sports injuries. We also speak Spanish and Chinese.
Page 2 of 2 - Q How many staff members do you have working for you?
A Right now I have seven staff members: Dr. Joy Roberts, Dr. Chris Cianci, Lisa Kelly (office manager), Jackie Lee (billing officer), Maria Gonzalez (front desk & chiropractic assistant), Latoria Cooper (chiropractic assistant), John Rossi (myofascial release/massage therapist). I also have a psychotherapist/ clinical social worker, Rebecca Levin, LCSW, in our office. I am planning to hire another massage therapist.
