Lane and shoulder closures will occur on Rockland Road from Monday, May 6, to June 6 and Del. Route 1 northbound will be closed immediately following the I-95 northbound exit ramp on Wednesday, May 8 and Thursday, May 9.
The Delaware Department of Transportation has scheduled the limited access or road closures for construction work scheduled for next week, weather permitting, in northern New Castle County.
On Rockland Road, DelDOT contractor Daisy Construction will be milling and paving the roadway from West Park Drive to West Rockland Road from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday for the rest of May through early June, weather permiting.
On Del. Route 1, DelDOT's contractor Cherry Hill Construction will be installing bridge girders over the Route 1 northbound travel lanes from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Monday and Tuesday. All traffic will be detoured to I-95 northbound to Route 141 northbound, to I-95 southbound to Exit 4B, taking drivers to Churchmans Road and back to Del. Route 1/Del. Route 7.
These nighttime closures are dependent on weather conditions and will be rescheduled if needed, DelDOT officials said.
Please note that these areas are work zones and extreme caution is essential. Motorists are advised to reduce speeds as they travel through this maintenance work zone and expect minor delays in this area.
Message signs, barrels and/or cones will be utilized to alert the public of the upcoming construction. Drivers should be aware that personnel and equipment will be operating in close proximity to the travel lanes.
