A trio of outstanding high school standouts, including Grace McCarthy of Delaware Military Academy, Kim Matlock of Jackson, N.J., and Casey Bair of Westminster, Md., have signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Goldey-Beacom College and play for the Lightning volleyball team.
Goldey-Beacom volleyball coach Rich Bowers announced the signings this week.
A first team all-conference selection for Coach Ron Smith, McCarthy helped Delaware Military Academy reach the first round of the Delaware State Tournament. In addition to being named as the Seahawks’ MVP twice, she earned second team all-state notice and was a second team all-conference pick as a junior.
McCarthy, of Middletown, also played for Team Delaware and helped the team earn fourth place at the regional tournament.
A two-time All-Shore Conference selection for Coach Jason Ulrich, Matlock led Jackson Memorial High School to the Brick Memorial Tournament and Jackson Invitational championships. Named to the New Jersey All-Star team as a senior, she earned Honor Roll notice as a freshman and sophomore.
In addition, she played for the Ocean County Volleyball Club and helped the team win four tournament championships.
Meanwhile, Bair helped Winters Mill High School earn the county and conference championships in addition to the Thomas Johnson Invitational Tournament. A first team all-county selection, she also received first team All-Chesapeake honors.
Bair has earned Honor Roll recognition all four years during her high school career.
