  • Delaware State Police troopers investigate robbery of Newark Wawa

  • The Wawa at 270 East Chestnut Hill Road near Newark was robbed early Monday morning.
    The incident occurred at 1:29 a.m. Monday when a masked, male suspect entered the store, approached a 47-year-old female employee, and demanded money, Delaware State Police Cpl. John Day said. The employee refused and walked away from the cash register.
    The suspect then walked behind the sales counter, removed several cartons of cigarettes and fled from the store, Day said.
    Delaware State Police troopers have been investigating the robbery since, Day said.
    No further physical or clothing description was available and no video surveillance was available, he said.
