Sophomore forward Tanjae Lewis of the Goldey-Beacom College women's basketball team has been named as a member of the 2012-13 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Winter All-Academic Team, CACC officials announced.
Lewis (Sterling H.S./Somerdale, N.J.) was one of 26 women's basketball student-athletes from the CACC's 14 member institutions to be named to the All-Academic Team.
In order to be named to the CACC All-Academic team, recipients must have participated in a CACC Championship sport in the winter. They must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, have been a student-athlete at their current school for at least two semesters, and achieve a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher through the fall semester.
A criminal justice major with a 3.54 grade point average, Lewis appeared in 18 games for the Lightning this season. She scored a season-high five points against Stonehill on Nov. 16 and at Concordia on Nov. 30. In addition, she grabbed a season-high four rebounds in the Lightning's Dec. 10 win at Wilmington University.
A two-year letter winner for Coach Jen Carleton, Lewis has appeared in 31 career games and has averaged 1.6 points and 1.6 rebounds per game.
The Lightning, who reached the CACC semifinals for the third time in the last four years, set a school record by winning 20 games this season.
