New Castle County paramedics responded to the 4200 block of Philadelphia Pike at the Claymont Steel Mill for the report of an injured worker.
At that location they found that 44-year-old male had been injured by a crane on a platform approximately 50 feet above the ground. New Castle County paramedics initiated treating him for chest injuries while still on the platform. The worker was removed from the platform by rescuers from the Claymont Fire Company and the New Castle County High Angle / Confined Space Rescue Team.
He was flown to Christiana Hospital by Delaware State Police helicopter. He was admitted to that facility in serious condition.
