The 12th annual Hockessin Art Festival, sponsored by the Wilmington and Western Railroad, will be held at the Hockessin Memorial Hall this weekend on Saturday, and Sunday, Feb. 23-24.
There will be a Friday evening preview event from 5 to 8 p.m.
The Art Festival is a fundraising effort to benefit the railroad, with 30 percent of all art sales going directly to the operation of the railroad.
The event will feature over 25 local and surrounding artists with specialties in limited edition prints, original water colors, pastels, sculptures and carvings. The theme of much of the artwork will be wildlife, sports, and equestrian.
The railroad, now in its 47th year of service, will also provide rides to customers on the "Festival Express." The vintage 1929 railcar will depart from outside the festival, taking riders on a 40-minute round-trip through the towns of Yorklyn and Ashland.
