You'll go back to the future at this event.

You can really start to move it At The Hop!

Step back in time to the early days of rock 'n' roll on Saturday, Feb. 16, when the New Castle Historical Society hosts its annual winter warm-up event, a "Doo Wop Sock Hop," at the Gym at St. Peter's in New Castle from 7 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

Pull out those letterman sweaters, leather jackets and poodle skirts because you're in for a rockin' good time at the Doo Wop Sock Hop! The New Castle Historical Society is recreating the experience of a 1950's dance, featuring era music and decorations. The Historical Society is even holding the event in a school gym!

You'll enjoy live classic rock and oldies music by The Honeycombs and delicious food by Penn's Bistro. But there's no need to spike the punch, Fonzie, because there will also be an open wine and beer bar!

The event will continue the tradition of including a silent auction that will feature a great selection of unique items from local businesses in addition to antiques and artwork that you can't find elsewhere.

Attire for the Doo Wop Sock Hop is upscale casual with 1950s-style attire strongly encouraged. Tickets are $50 per person and must be purchased in advance. You can purchase your tickets online here or by calling the Society at 322-2794. Proceeds will benefit the New Castle Historical Society's history education programs.
