The American Lung Association in Delaware will hold a Freedom From SmokingŪ facilitator training workshop.
The American Lung Association in Delaware will hold a Freedom From Smoking® facilitator training workshop on Wednesday, April 10 from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and on Thursday, April 11 from 8 a.m. to noon at its office in Newark, 630 Churchmans Road, Suite 2. The workshop trains participants to become certified Freedom From Smoking facilitators and host Freedom From Smoking clinics in their communities, which help others quit smoking.
Individuals who participate in the workshop gain the skills necessary to become Freedom From Smoking facilitators in their communities. Each facilitator is trained to host group clinics, which include eight sessions and feature a step-by-step plan for quitting smoking. Facilitators introduce the techniques to the participants, coordinate activities and foster group interaction.
To be eligible to become a Freedom From Smoking facilitator the participants in the April workshop must have not used tobacco for at least 12 months prior to the training. Registration costs $350 and is due by April 1. Scholarships may be available to qualified participants.
The Freedom From Smoking facilitator training is made possible through the Delaware Division of Public Health’s Asthma Education Contract. Funding for the Contract is provided by the Delaware Health Fund and managed by the American Lung Association in Delaware.
