More than 200 people will meet at 1 p.m. Jan. 21 at St. Paul's Church at the corner of 4th and Van Buren to march up 4th Street to call for an end to gun violence in the city, state, and nation.
Wilmington was named the most violent city in the nation in 2012, and the march will show support to all the families who have suffered the pain of losing a loved one through violence. More than 20 people were fatally shot in Wilmington last year, and more than 8,000 people a year lose their lives due to gun violence.
Honoring the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, the march will conclude with a community celebration at Be Ready Church on 4th and Rodney from 2:30 to 5 p.m. For more information, call (302) 658-4171 ext. 185.
