Traffic alert: Washington Street

The Department of Transportation announces that the improvements on Washington Street and continuing to 7th and South Streets in New Castle will begin Jan. 7.

The work will begin at 7:30 a.m. and will last until 4 p.m. on Jan. 18. The $4.5 million project will include reconstructing the roadway, utilities, sidewalks along Washington Street to provide a pedestrian route to Battery Park, improvements to the railroad crossing, and intersection improvements at 7th and Washington Street.
