Saint Mark's students raised money for the Saint Elizabeth Ann Seaton (SEAS) Toy Room.
The Saint Mark's student body dug deep into their pockets to help the Saint Elizabeth Ann Seaton (SEAS) Toy Room give families in need a very merry Christmas. With their help, the Student Council raised $1,300.00 and purchased blankets, jackets, shoes, and clothing for children ages 6 months to 18 years old.
Students who donated $5 or more were entered into a raffle for the chance to go out to lunch and shop for the SEAS Toy Room last week. These six generous students were Tori Bailor '12, Zach Boulden '12, Ally Taylor '13, Alyssa Simmons '15, Taylor Putnam '15, and Nathan Spagnolo '15. They were all very excited at the prospect of helping other children have good memories of their holiday season.
"This is the least we can do to help out a family in need," Bailor said. "It's unbelievable to think that these kids will be so happy just to get the essentials."
Saint Mark's students were also able to lend a hand on the day the gifts were distributed to the Toy Room. Susan Bookout, coordinator of the SEAS Toy Room, said that the effort was a huge success.
"Saint Mark's really came through for us with the amount of clothing and toys that were purchased," Bookout said. "And the kids that helped with the distribution were wonderful – they hung in there to the end to assist with all they could."
