  • The Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition's Great Stuff Savvy Resale announced that its volunteer staff has been awarded the Governor's Outstanding Volunteer Award for Excellence in Community Service.
The volunteers were honored by Governor Jack Markell and First Lady Carla Markell Oct. 25 at Dover Downs Hotel and Casino. More than 40 volunteers were honored for more than 3,000 hours volunteered at Great Stuff, a resale shop that benefits the DBCC. All items in the shop are donated by members of the local community. The shop features women's clothing, accessories, home accents and furniture.
The volunteers also have gotten involved with the fundraising efforts of DBCC. Each fall, Great Stuff volunteers put together a team for the "Race for the Pink Ribbon," which benefits DBCC and is held at the Riverfront. This past year, they were the recipients of an award for the largest team to bring in additional dollars for the local breast cancer organization. For more information, visit debreastcancer.org.
