The comedy 'The Red Velvet Cake War,' will be performed at Cab Calloway School of the Arts' starting this Thursday evening.
In this riotously funny Southern-fried comedy, three cousins - Gaynelle, Peaches and Jimmie Wyvette - could not have picked a worse time to throw their family reunion. Their outrageous antics have amused local gossips and they have quickly become a scandal in the small town of Sweetgum, Texas.
Despite the frantic situations the cousins find themselves in, they decide not to back out of the reunion. Peaches and Jimmie Wyvette have decided that having Gaynelle host the event is the perfect way to prove Gaynelle's sanity to a skeptical court-appointed psychologist. Unfortunately, they face an uphill battle as a display of wildly eccentric family members gather on the hottest day of July, smack-dab in the middle of Texas tornado season.
Cab Calloway has announced that Children and Families First will be the beneficiary of fundraising efforts for the performance.
