Christine R. Dunning has been named the new chief of the City of Wilmington's Police Department.
Chief Dunning will join forces with Mayor-Elect Williams in January to begin reforming the Wilmington Police Department. Dunning will work closely with the Mayor-Elect to establish a new mission for the Department, which focuses on creating safe neighborhoods and invests in professional development of the force.
Captain Dunning is a law enforcement official with 26 years of distinguished public service. Presently, Captain Dunning serves as commanding officer and training lieutenant in the Human Resources Division. She administers, coordinates, and monitors task responsibilities involving the department's $50 million fiscal budget.
