New Castle County Executive Tom Gordon has appointed Michael Coupe as the county's new Chief Financial Officer.
Coupe, who has been employed with the county since 1977, will replace Acting Chief Financial Officer Ed Milowicki.
His salary will be approximately $129,000 and his appointment is pending confirmation from County Council.
Gordon said in a statement Nov. 29 that he chose Coupe because of his long history of serving the county.
"[He] has a long history of serving the Office of Finance for New Castle County," Gordon said. "I believe with his experience we can work together to place New Castle County on strong financial footing."
In Coupe's 35 years with the county, he has worked in several offices and has served on a number of committees.
Coupe graduated from Mt Pleasant High School in 1968 and attended Delaware Technical & Community College, graduating in 1970 with an Associates Degree in Computer Program.
In 1975, he received his Bachelor's degree in accounting from Wilmington College.
In 2007, he received the county's Green Energy Award and in 2002, the U.S. Department of Justice Bureau of Investigations presented him with a Service Award.
Coupe resides in Claymont with his wife Nancy.
