Police charge two New Caslte County men with a burglary at the X-Ring Supply gun shop, 2201 Ogletown Road, Newark, on Nov. 24.
Jean C. Encarnacion, 19, of Newark and Joshua R. Rodriguez, 21, of Bear were charged with attempted robbery in the first degree, burglary in the third degree, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of burglary tools, attempted theft of a firearm in two counts, criminal mischief over $5,000, and conspiracy in the second degree. Encarnacion's additional charges include robbery in the first degree and wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony in four counts.
Investigators say Encarnacion and Rodriguez used a shotgun and a sledgehammer to gain access to the business, but were unable to take firearms from within; both men ran away. Police also linked Encarnacion to a robbery spree that occurred during the morning of Nov. 4. They say he robbed the 7-11, 1700 Pulaski Highway, Bear; the Royal Farms, 865 Old Baltimore Pike, Newark; the Wawa, 274 E. Chestnut Hill Road, Newark; 7-11, 699 E. Chestnut Hill Road, Newark.
