  • JPMorgan Chase presented two Delaware organizations Tuesday with grants totaling $160,000 to fund job training and housing initiatives for Delaware's service members and veterans at Goodwill of Delaware.
The Veterans' Jobs Source & Financial Empowerment Initiative, through Goodwill of Delaware, will support 300 veterans and/or members of their families in need of employment. The grant will help provide direct one-on-one job search assistance and provide 100 low-to moderate earning veterans with a personal financial coach dedicated to helping them improve their overall financial health and reach their goals through Delaware's Stand By Me program.
There are nearly 300 homeless veterans in Delaware; 17 of whom are living on the street and have an increased risk for mortality. Currently there are only 125 dedicated transitional and permanent beds for veterans plus additional financial assistance for veterans. To help reach its goal of ending homelessness for Delaware veterans, the Homeless Planning Council received a $85,000 grant from JPMorgan Chase to help create a transition-in-place permanent housing project for Delaware's veterans.
