  • It may still only be mid-November, but that didn't stop Middletown from ringing in the Christmas cheer Saturday.
Hundreds of marchers participated in the parade, which ran for more than an hour.
The Girl Scouts alone had more than 200 girls from 28 troops walk together in the parade.
The parade kicked off at 10 a.m. at the Everett Meredith Middle School, with floats, performances, marchers, and a variety of animals making their ways up Broad Street and onto Main Street.
Broad and Main Streets were lined with spectators, and as Santa Clause bought up the rear of the parade, children could be heard yelling, "It's Santa!"
Parade winners, who were chosen by a group of judges and announced by D.J. Jammin' Jeff, included the Appoquinimink High School marching band, Encore Dance Academy, Jazzercise kids, and Victoria's Dance Company.
The M.O.T. Big Ball Marathon Committee won first place for their float as well.
