  • The Charter School of Wilmington field hockey squad has had an impressive season. The Force finished the regular season a perfect 15-0. And on Saturday morning they will look to take the first step towards a state title as they open up the field hockey state tournament against Wilmington Christian.
Junior Kaitlin Reid is a big reason for Charter's success this season, the Community News caught up with Kaitlin to talk about how she got involved in field hockey and what the future holds for the talented midfielder.
Q: How long have you been playing field hockey?
A: I've been playing since around 7th grade.
Q: How did you first get involved?
A: Well, I went to Tower Hill, so the sport is real big there. And I've always been really athletic and I love playing team sports, and I came to Charter to play for Coach Cindy, who is such a great coach.
Q: How has the field hockey program progressed since you first joined?
A: I think my freshmen year we won six games. We've come real far, to go from losing so many games to what we have now. When I first came we had lost a lot of seniors so we were kind of rebuilding, we really owe our success to Coach Cindy, she's such a great coach.
Q: Do you plan on going to college and potential playing field hockey at the next level?
A: Yes, definitely. Not sure about playing, and I'm totally undecided about where I'll go but I definitely plan on going.
