Dr. Wendy Mogel, an internationally known clinical psychologist, author and public speaker, addressed the Sanford School on Thursday, Oct. 4 to a full house of Sanford, Tatnall, Tower Hill and Wilmington Friends' parents.
The event was sponsored by the Four School Parent Awareness Committee.
She is the author of the New York Times best-selling parenting book The Blessing of a Skinned Knee, and her most recent release, The Blessing of a B Minus: Using Jewish Teaching to Raise Resilient Teenagers, which addresses the question she is asked most frequently: how to be an effective parent in a culture that breeds anxiety and entitlement in older children and teens.
In The Blessing of a Skinned Knee, Mogel shares stories of everyday parenting problems and examines them through the lens of the Torah, the Talmud, and other important Jewish teachings.
Mogel uses wit and humor, combined with Jewish teachings and psychological research to show parents how to navigate the rough waters of the teenage years.
Following her presentation, Mogel signed copies of both her books for parents.
