Two exquisite operas, a kiddy version of Punkin Chunkin for you and the little ones, and the screening of a new indie film are a few adventures you can sink your teeth into this weekend.
Starving for more fun? Here are a total of five cool activities that'll keep you warm from the icy clutches of Old Man Winter the next three days.
FRIDAY, NOV. 9
1. Riding 'Highway 41'
New Jersey band Highway 41 will celebrate the music of the legendary original Allman Brothers Band at World Café Live at the Queen tonight.
Since 2008, Highway 41's shows have focused primarily on the Allman Brothers' vintage 1969-1973 material. Highway has even been known to perform the Allman Brothers' albums "Fillmore East" and "Eat a Peach" straight through. Gaining new fans at every show, Highway's powerful performances and strong rapport with its audience has been generating a buzz with Delaware Valley musicians and listeners.
The Allman Brothers Band, inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995, achieved breakthrough success in the early 1970s with their album "Fillmore East," featuring the tunes "In Memory of Elizabeth Reed" and "Whipping Post."

2. Two magnificent operas
Three murders, four love affairs, and a string of greatest hits sums up what's in store for you at The Grand tonight and Saturday in the showing of two lovely operas: Pietro Mascagni's "Cavalleria rusticana" and Ruggero Leoncavallo's "Pagliacci".
Commonly known as "Cav/Pag," the productions are opera's ultimate double bill. These two one-act operas contain some of the most beautiful music ever written, including the rousing "Easter Hymn," "Intermezzo" and "Vesti la giubba".
The shows' emotive, true-to-life storylines are inspired by some less than admirable but always stage-worthy human traits: jealousy, betrayal, lust and revenge.

You and the kids will also have the chance to experiment with silly putty, ice cream, slimy substances, plants and origami. There will also be demonstrations involving robots, bottle rockets, live animals, biofuel balloons, and high-speed cameras and tons more.
