Catherine Howard, a senior middle hitter for Goldey-Beacom's College volleyball team, tallied a career-high nine blocks and added 10 kills as Goldey-Beacom broke a 19-match losing streak by earning a five-set Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory over Concordia College on Saturday.
The Lightning, who earned their first win since Sept. 13 at Bowie State, earned the victory by set scores of 25-22, 25-23, 23-25, 22-25 and 15-13. Howard ended the season with 84 blocks, which is the fifth-highest mark in school history.
Senior setter/opposite Monica Dempsey contributed a season-high 18 digs along with nine kills and seven assists. Dempsey is ranked second in school history in career assists, and fourth in career digs.
