  • DART First State Bus employees participated in a driving and safety skills competition at DART's Bus "Roadeo," at the Mid-County facility in New Castle on Oct. 21.

  • DART First State Bus employees participated in a driving and safety skills competition at DART's Bus "Roadeo," at the Mid-County facility in New Castle on Oct. 21.
    Bus operators and maintenance staff were tested by maneuvering either a 25-foot or 40-foot bus on a tight course in a safe and timely manner. The skills tests consisted of backing maneuvers, serpentine turns, passenger stops and diminishing clearance.
    "Roadeo" winners of the 25-foot bus category include: First place – James Shotzberger; second place – Barry Widmer; third place – Brent Chambers. Winners of the 40-foot bus category include: First place – William Webb; second place – Renaldo Epps; third place – Richard Meier.
    The Maintenance Roadeo Competition was held on Oct. 7 the winners were Frank Garbacz, Steven Vest and Mike Grazella.
    Each winner received an award plaque, the choice of a gift card, or three, two, or one personal day (s) off from work, depending on their category. The fixed route and the maintenance first place winners will attend the National Roadeo in Indianapolis, Ind. on May 2-7, 2013. The para-transit first place winner will attend the National Roadeo in Albuquerque, N.M. on June 2-7, 2013.
