  • Michael Harmon, a freshman mid-fielder in soccer at Goldey-Beacom College, scored the match-winning goal with 1:39 remaining in the second overtime period winning the Goldey's second win in the last three matches over Washington College on Wednesday.
In the closing minutes of regulation, the Shoremen were whistled for an offside infraction near the midfield line. Senior goalkeeper Ignacio Farias sent the free kick into the penalty area where freshman forward Ernest Ackah headed the ball into the goal to send the match into overtime. It was the first goal of Ackah's college career.
While Harmon led the Lightning to the victory, Farias made five saves as Goldey-Beacom out shot Washington College by a 19-14 margin, including a 4-2 count in the overtime periods. The Lightning will begin a season-ending four-match road trip at 2 p.m. Saturday when they travel to Nyack College for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match against the Warriors.
