Police investigate armed robbery, assault at Dollar Tree

Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred Tuesday morning at the Dollar Tree, 2099 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont.

The 52-year-old female and the 37-year-old male told police while they were opening the store, the suspect ran in with a handgun and demanded money. They say during a slight struggle, the suspect discharged his gun twice and ran away; no one was hit. The male employee suffered minor injuries to his upper body, but did not need treatment.
