PAWS for People, a Newark-based pet therapy organization, will host its 4th annual Wag-n-Walk & 5K Run, rain or shine, on Saturday, Oct. 20 at Glasgow Park in Newark from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m.
The PAWS for People Wag-n-Walk & 5K Run is so unique because it is the only 5K Walk/Run Delaware running event that allows dogs (leashed) to participate. In addition to the 5K Run/Walk which starts at 9 a.m., the Wag-n-Walk event includes a family-friendly Doggie Walk at 11:15 a.m. and a PAWS party which also begins at 11:15 a.m.
Cost for the 5K is $20, or $25 after Oct. 13. Cost for the Doggie Walk is $25, free for children under 12. The Party is FREE to all. Register for all events at www.pawsforpeople.org or call 351-5622.
"Each year we have increased both attendance and earnings," Lynne Robinson said, PAWS Executive Director. "With great vendors, food and more dog-focused activities, this year we hope to attract not only runners and walkers but individuals and families who love fun, entertainment and just being outdoors on a beautiful fall day."
All proceeds help support and extend PAWS pet therapy programs and services throughout the region.

The 5K Run/Walk registration is at 8 a.m., and the event starts at 9 a.m. Participants can run or walk individually or as a team — with or without their dogs. For those who aren't keen on competition, a family-friendly doggy-walk (registration at 10:15 a.m.) allows individuals or groups of every age the opportunity to walk through the park at a leisurely pace. Prizes will be awarded to winners of various categories. The PAWS party also begins at 11:15 a.m. and features food and refreshments, vendors with gifts for pets and people, games and activities for dogs and kids, special services such as free toe-nail clipping and pet massage, Howl-o-ween costume parade and pet portraits.IF YOU GO
