  • Smokey Bear will bring his message of wildfire prevention to Delaware first-grade students this month.
The Delaware Forest Service uses the 45-minute classroom visits to teach children about the benefits of trees: wood products, food and habitat for wildlife, cleaner air and water and more. According to www.smokeybear.com, unattended debris burning, smoking, fireworks, and carelessly discarding fireplace or BBQ ashes are some of the common ways people can start a wildfire.
