An autobiographical sketch comedy, “Lady Luck is a Whore” is about a woman's experiences with marriage, friendships and spiritual beliefs.

New York City-based actress and playwright Leanne Linsky will perform her critically acclaimed, one-woman show "Lady Luck is a Whore" at the Fringe Wilmington Festival 2012.

The show, which will be presented Thursday through Saturday, is under the direction of Trish Vignola, who received directorial training at Second City theater in Chicago, Ill.

An autobiographical sketch comedy, "Lady Luck is a Whore" is about Linsky's experiences with marriage, friendships and spiritual beliefs. The solo piece follows her journey from Waukegan, Ill. to Las Vegas, Nev.

Doesn't every woman want to move to Vegas, sell guns and get married a couple of times? Linsky takes on colorful roles, such as her father, a Native American YMCA Spirit guide, her ex-husbands and, of course, God. It would be completely made up if it weren't totally true.

"Telling my story through the sketch comedy genre is a fusion of how I remember things in snapshots of time, and putting years of comedy training into full-speed action," said Leanne Linsky, who plays herself, and an array of characters in the show.

Linsky is the host and creator of the five-year running open mic "Casual Sketch," and performs and teaches for both Cherub Improv and Gotham City Improv Theater in New York. She has trained with The Second City, Upright Citizens Brigade, IO Chicago and Magnet Theater.

"Lady Luck is a Whore" premiered at The Peoples Improv Theater on November 27, 2011.
