Kim’s Kafé has been a staple in the Hockessin community for breakfast and lunchtime dining. So when the business came up for sale in early 2011, John Quinn jumped at the chance to own the local eatery.
Quinn had worked in Hockessin since 1998, running the Pat’s Pizza located in the same shopping center as Kim’s. He said when he bought Kim’s he didn’t want to make too many changes.
“We cleaned up the décor, and added a few salads and sandwiches,” he said.
The new sign for the restaurant was installed on Monday, Aug. 6, officially re-branding the restaurant.
But since he bought the restaurant, Quinn never worried about how changing the name might affect business. “Business has actually gone up,” he said. “We have brought in new faces, kept our regulars and keep getting new regulars.”
Quinn plans on having an ‘unofficial’ grand re-opening of Quinn’s Café after Labor Day, when many Hockessin residents return from summer vacation.
