If you want to participate in Bike MS: Bike to the Bay, Delaware’s premier cycling event, it’s not too late to start preparing. The ride, set for Sept. 22 and 23 this year, is just under two months away — the perfect time for cyclists to ramp-up their training and to tune-up their bikes.
To help cyclists prepare for the event, the National MS Society, Delaware Chapter has teamed up with two local bike shops for special “Bikes and Brews” registration sessions featuring refreshments and tune-up discounts on Thursday, Aug. 9 and Friday, Aug. 10.
WHY YOU SHOULD ATTEND
“Our cyclists’ safety is a top priority for us at Bike to the Bay,” Holly Maddams said, MPA, CFRE, Development Director for the Delaware Chapter. “Having your bike tuned-up now will help to prevent possible problems as you train and during ride.”
So safety first, but “Bikes and Brews” is also meant for fun.
“These events were created as a way to socialize with your team and meet other cyclists as you wait for your bike to be serviced,” Maddams said.
WHAT’S NEW THIS YEAR?
For “Bike and Brews,” the MS Society has partnered with The Bike Boutique, located in Wilmington, and Henry’s Bike Shop, located in Pike Creek. Both locations will offer 10 percent off bike tune-ups for Bike to the Bay cyclists. Plus, there will be Bike to the Bay registration specials and refreshments provided by the Delaware Chapter.
This is the first year for the “Bikes and Brews” events, but Henry’s and the Bike Boutique have been on board as MS Bike to the Bay sponsors in the past, providing support for cyclists at the ride.
