  • Tucked away in Greenville is Coverdale Farm, a 19th century-looking operating farm that spans 229 acres. The property was given to the Delaware Nature society in 1998 by the Old Kennett Foundation in order to use the property as an educational resource.

The farm runs camps for students of all ages who can learn about the farm cycle of life, the origin of food and natural fibers, the significance of living soil, and our dependence upon soil, water, plants and animals for survival.

But the farm has two very popular programs: Farm Fun Days, which takes place every Wednesday, and Saturday Morning Farm Chores, which takes place on the third Saturday of the each month from May to September.

Farm Fun Days is a tour of the farm that allows visitors to learn about what goes on at the farm and to meet all the animals that reside there. Saturday Morning Farm Chores takes the tour a step further - visitors can take care of the animals on the farm, from cleaning the pens, to milking the cows. The day begins at 8 a.m. sharp with milking the cows, and ends at 11 a.m. with a stroll around the farm.
