- The Brandywine School District referendum asking residents for a nearly 15 percent property tax increase Wednesday was approved by a narrow, 4,624 to 4,013 vote. Those who voted for the tax hike said it was important to have good schools while those who voted against just felt the timing was bad given the lousy economy.
